FactSpace West Africa has emerged the 2nd runner-up in the DW Start-up contest at the Global Media Forum 2022 out of close to 100 applicants from 39 countries around the world – with Australian start-up, Leadstory adjusted as the winner.

The West African fact-checking organization made it through the semi-final and final stages competing with among a shortlist of 10 start-ups that was subsequently trimmed to 4, after competitive pitching rounds observed by an expert panel of judges.

“We missed out on the top prize. But still excited about the journey so far, having made it to the top two,” Director of FactSpace West Africa, Rabiu Alhassan noted.

The Global Media Forum is hosted by Deutsche Welle and its partners each year and the DW start-up competition brings together the most innovative start-ups that have a solution, product or service for media technology and innovation.
