The National Elections Commission (NEC) of Liberia has announced that voting in the presidential run-off election will start at 8 am and end at 6 pm on November 14, 2023, across all 5,890 centers.
The second ballot has become necessary following the lack of a clear winner in the October 10 presidential polls.
The two candidates who pulled the most votes in the first ballot, incumbent president, Goerge Manneh Weah – 43.83%, and former vice president, Joseph N. Boakai – 43.44%, would be the 2 candidates on the ballot.
Meanwhile, the NEC has provided some essential guidelines for voters in the runoff election:
1. All voters must ensure they are in possession of their voting ID card and go to the same place where they voted on October 10 to vote in the presidential runoff election.
2. Upon reaching the center, voters are expected to show their voting ID card to the NEC staff and stand behind the last person in the line.
3. Only people with special needs like the physically challenged, visually impaired, old people, pregnant women, and young baby mothers will be assisted to stand in front of the line to vote.
4. When it’s your turn to vote, give the voting ID card to the NEC staff so they could check on the final registration roll for your name and photo.
5. Then after confirmation, you will be given one ballot paper to vote in the runoff election.
6. There are three ways to mark the ballot paper: you can mark with a pen using a checkmark or an X or with a thumbprint in the box beside a photo of the candidate of your choice.
7. If you mark using a thumbprint, you should wait a moment until the mark dries before folding the ballot paper and placing it in the ballot box.
