Research Associate and Multimedia Lead at FactSpace West Africa, Samuel Adjetey Adjei participated in a digital content production workshop organised by the World Health Organization (WHO) Africa Infodemic Response Alliance (AIRA).
The four-part virtual workshop, aimed at strengthening storytelling and media skills to combat health misinformation across the continent was held throughout March 2026 with technical support from Fathm.
It brought together participants from across Africa, with focus on equipping beginners with practical skills in content creation and digital storytelling. The workshop covered key areas including storytelling for impact, content strategy and video production using tools such as CapCut, Canva and Adobe Premiere Pro. It also covered strategies for building online communities and achieving organic reach. Participants also engaged in practical exercises, in the form of graphics and videos to simplify complex information.
Samuel highlighted the relevance of the training to his work in fact-checking and digital investigations.
“This training has strengthened my ability to tell compelling, evidence-based stories using digital tools. It has also improved how I translate complex fact-checking work into engaging visual and video content that resonates with wider audiences,” he said.
He added that the skills acquired will enhance FactSpace West Africa’s efforts in countering misinformation through more creative, accessible and audience-focused content.
“I am excited about applying these skills and tools to simplify complex information and make our fact-checks more relatable to our audiences. This will help us reach more people and strengthen public understanding of verified information,” he noted.
The training forms part of ongoing efforts by AIRA to build the capacity of media practitioners, researchers and communicators across Africa to respond effectively to misinformation and public information challenges.
